Senior Master Sergeant Poe is an Aerospace Science Instructor at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina.  Sergeant Poe was born October 23, 1969, in Baumholder, Germany.  He graduated from Valley High School in 1987.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management in 2007. He received his Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management in 2011. His professional military education includes resident diplomas from the Airman Leadership School (ALS), the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA) and the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA).

Sergeant Poe enlisted in the USAF in March 1990.  He completed basic training and was assigned to Lowry Air Force Base (AFB), Colorado for technical training in the Inventory Management (Supply) career field.  In July 1990, he was assigned to the 7100 Supply Squadron, Lindsey Air Base, Germany.  In 1992, he received transfer orders to 89th Supply Squadron, Andrews Air Force Base (AFB), Maryland where he performed duties as an Inventory Management journeyman.  In 1995, Sergeant Poe left Andrews for the 51st Supply Squadron, Osan Air Base (AB), Korea. In 1996, Sergeant Poe was reassigned to 96th Supply Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) Florida. Early in 1998 Sergeant Poe crossed trained in to the 3D0X1 Communications Career Field and after training at Kessler Air Force Base (AFB) was reassigned to the 505th Systems Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida as a System Administrator. In 2001 he transferred to the 347th Communications SQ as the Non-commissioned Officer-In-Charge (NCOIC) of the Standards and Evaluations, were he was named the 2003 Communications and Information NCO of the year. In 2004, Sergeant Poe was selected to perform a Joint Duty assignment with the US Army as a NCOIC of the United States European Plans and Operations Center Command (US EUCOM) and Control Branch where he was named the US EUCOM 2005 Communications and Information NCO of the year.  In 2007, he was selected for another Joint Duty with the Navy for a three-year tour in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During his time in Hawaii he was named the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Air Force Senior Non-Commission Officer (SNCO) of the year as well as the DIA Joint SNCO of the year. In 2010, Sergeant Poe was assigned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ as the Superintendent of the Mission Support Flight in the 87th Communications Squadron. In 2012 Sergeant Poe was selected to be the Squadron Superintendent of the 693d Intelligence Support Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. In 2015, Master Sergeant Poe retired after 25 years of faithful military service.

Sergeant Poe is married to the former Linda Williams of Stanley, North Carolina.  He has three children: Garrett, David, and Kristina, and one grandson, Mason.  His hobbies include softball and watching Kentucky Basketball.
